Tree Rings and the Top Secret Mother's Day Project

The Etzim class was occupied this past week with two classroom projects. We were busy cutting a large fallen tree branch from the TBS woods into circular rings. Some children cut the branch into rings while Laura helped to guide them. We noticed that the tree pieces had a nice smell to them and that they contained many circular shaped patterns that indicated the age of the tree.

In addition, we have been exploring various types of flowers based on how they look, feel, and smell. Etzim children worked to remove the petals in order to let them dry out over the weekend. What are we going to do with all these flower petals you make ask? Word on the street is that they will be used for a top secret mother's day project! Stay tuned!
