Every Fairy Godmother Needs a...

Magic wand!! Continuing with our study of Cinderella, today the Haifa kids got to be the fairy godmother or godfather, and we all made magic wands!! While the kids were making them, I asked the kids about where the magic part of the wand was and what their first wish they would grant would be.

Eli: "The ribbon is where the magic comes from."
Alli: "I'm going to turn everyone into painters."
Drew: "I'm going to turn the whole building into a pumpkin!"
Leo: "I'm turning a pumpkin into a pumpkin wagon!"

Zack was very skeptical about my question about granting wishes. When he asked why I was asking, I told him it would end up on the blog. When he asked how it would get on the blog, Alli promptly told him that the blog was magic!

These silvery bits of magic fluttered around the classroom turning pumpkins into carriages and teachers into frogs! It's so great to see the kids bringing the stories of Cinderella to life. And if you are a parent in the Haifa class that has read this far into the blog, comment and we will give you a sunflower!

The Same Story From Around the World

This week in the Haifa class, we thought we would go global. We decided that we were going to focus on stories of Cinderella from all over the world. Early this morning, before any students got to school, the bookshelf was ready for their arrival, chock full of the same story from different cultures.

At circle time, the students got to see where the different stories are from. We pulled out a map, showed them where we are, and then pointed to each place each story is from. Locations include the United States, the Middle East, Africa, Mexico, Korea, China, and more!! We are going to see how the stories change yet stay the same!
