What are you thankful for?

Every Friday, the Kohavim children gather in a circle on the rug to celebrate Shabbat together. After saying the blessings, we enjoy the sweetness of shabbat as we share a challah and juice snack. As we eat our snack, we all think about what we are thankful for. Below are what the children are thankful for on this beautiful shabbat.

Brett: I am thankful for my mom and my whole family.
Ryan: I am thankful for Jules
Hannah: I am thankful for God.
Jacob: I am thankful for God.
Max Goldberg: I am thankful for my whole family.
Eliza: For my family.
Zack: I am thankful for God cause he made us.
Eli: I am thankful for God.
Max Greenstein: My family.
Molly: God. Because he made us.
Sabrina: I am thankful for God.
Dylan: God. Because he made our families
Ryan: And the torah.
Brett: And so we could celebrate Shabbat.
Zack: And he also gave use our friends so you could be happy and play.
Ezra: My family. Because I like them.
Lily: I am thankful for my parents and my sister because they’re part of my family and I love them.

Tu' B Shevat~ Celebration of Nature and our World

In the Kohavim class we have been focusing on many learning goals as related to this wondrous holiday. It is truly a blessing to take time and celebrate the gifts of our natural world. Our learning goals were to present this holiday as not only the birthday of trees but really bring an element of exploration and thankfulness and transmit our responsibility to take care of it. We explored planting, fruits, seeds, listened to stories about trees, explored 'how' we could take care of the world, discussed what trees give us and what we could do for trees. Stay tuned for visuals of our explorations.
