The Keshet children have come to know Moses, first as the stark bronze figure that we greet in the hallway, and later as the baby in a basket. We learned the story of how God directed Moses to lead the Jewish people out of Egypt. Recently we have been reading Ten Good Rules, a counting book that introduces the Ten Commandments to young children. We have read it to celebrate Shavuot, and to talk more about Moses and how God continues to guide the Jewish people.

where it all began...
On Monday, we began talking about Moses, the baby, and his mother Yocheved. Using baby dolls, boxes as baskets and blue construction paper for a river, the Shamayim children re-enacted the beginning of the Passover story. They wrapped baby Moses carefully and lovingly (some gave kisses), placed him in the "basket" and placed him gently into the "river".
We discussed how the Princess found Moses and decided to keep him as her own and that Miriam, Moses's sister, offered to help the Princess care for the baby.
We are excited to have the Rabbi visit us tomorrow so that we can continue learning about what happens as Moses grows up.
