During our morning circle we told the children they would have the opportunity to explore with paint today! We asked the children what colors we would need to create the night time sky? They raised their hand and one by one they said, "White, blue, black, dark purple and yellow."
When we opened the classroom for free play we placed glass jars filled with paint on white mural paper with a variety of paint brushes. The purpose of the experience was to mix colors and create the night time sky. As the children worked, they talked about how the night time sky at their house looked just like our mural; the only thing we needed was stars and a moon. Tomorrow we will continue working on the mural...Stars, a moon?
The experience was a symphony of children's voices and sounds of mixing, stirring and printing.

Those hands covered in fingerpaint remind me of the very similar photo at the top of our blog!
