Playing with our food!? Playing with COLOR!
The Tel Aviv class is getting ready fort tie dye with talking about color and how it mixes together. Yesterday the class made their own vanilla pudding and then had the opportunity to use food coloring to dye their own cups. Each child was encouraged to put in two drops and fully mix it before adding another few drops. This enabled the class to see each step of color evolution before they got to a color they were satisfied with. As soon as the food coloring was passed out the room erupted with shouts of, "Mine's turning blue! Mine's green! Mine's black!" We talked about what colors they used to obtain the color they finally ate and we noticed a tread that most children had darker, brown, black or blue colored pudding. Through asking questions we realized it was because most kids added green, blue and red, very few added yellow and most added all three colors to get a brown. No matter the color it was delicious, yet a few of our parents thought that our brown pudding was chocolate pudding; it wasn't, we were just playing with colors.
