Dyeing Pasta!

During the course of the week the Tel Aviv classroom has been exploring with color.  Today we decided to color pasta, let it dry and then make jewelry.  Since we ran out of time this morning  we decided to do it in Lunch Bunch.   Our original plan was to use food coloring and vinegar to dye the pasta.  When Sasha decided to join us with the Levana and Sunshine children we decided to dye the pasta with water colors only!

We wanted the children to enjoy the process of dyeing the pasta with eye droppers and not be turned away/off  by the smell of the alcohol.  After a brief lesson in "eye dropper use 101", the children picked up their eyedropper and started the process of dyeing the pasta!   For most of the Levana and Sunshine children this was their first experience with eyedroppers.   They were amazing they got the hang of it right away (place eyedropper in cup, pinch your fingers together and a part)!

Dylan, Rachel. and Eli enjoyed counting and lining up all the pieces of pasta they dyed.  Dylan was so excited to report that they dyed/counted 26 pieces of pasta!

Next week we will string the pasta and make jewelry!
