Painting Alfresco

Summer is an ideal time to bring the classroom outdoors. One of the features of our outdoor classroom is our new easel. This morning it beckoned with red, purple, yellow, and green paint, fresh white paper, and a variety of paint brushes. The easel was filled with artists all morning: Lily, Sara, Eliza, Ali, and more.

Joining the Impressionists of the late 1800s who first tried bringing their art outdoors, we headed outside into nature to paint. The joy of painting in the open air was evidenced on the children's faces. And when they were done, clean up involved just a quick swish in the water table. Whether we have the next Renior or Monet on our hands or just a summer full of colorful days ahead remains to be seen.
