Building

As the Levana children have progressed through the year, they have returned many times to some favorite, familiar building materials. The structures that they build, the time that they spend on the activity, and the discussions that develop around the process all reflect their growth. Earlier in the year, the magnetic tiles were often corralled and stacked in piles; much of the discussion centered around who had the most tiles. Now the children more often spread out these stacks and build interesting structures which they describe to one another. Julia worked on a multi-story building that eventually included several rooms and doorways. Micah built a futuristic garage with a drop-down door, and Elias presented a proposal to combine this with his tower.

  1. That's so interesting to hear the changes in the way they play with the magnatiles. Thanks for giving me something to think about.

  2. we bought magnatiles for Eliana as part of her recent birthday gift because she is always telling us she plays with them at school. They are a great toy. Our whole family enjoys building with her now.
