1) Chick peas (16 oz can) drained, 1/4 cup of the drained liquid, 3 - 5 tablespoons of lemon juice (we used three) 1 1/2 tablespoon of tahini, 1/2 tsp. of salt and 2 Tablespoons of olive oil. The recipe called for 2 cloves of garlic but as that ingredient met up with some resistance, we eliminated it.
NOW we are ready. Don't know if this happens at home, but we had a little taste test of the chickpeas BEFORE they were smooched into a puree resembling hummus.
I am inspired to try this at home--it really is so simple. If only Josh would eat it...
ReplyDeleteDid Teddy tell you what we call chick peas in our family? Tushie beans! Because if you look closely, they really do look like a tushie! That always brings a chuckle to the kids and Teddy happens to love them and hummus! But I have never thought to make it on my own - now I will have to do that with Teddy!
