This week the Kohavim class has been exploring with geoboards during choice time. Working with geoboards gives kids a chance to explore geometric concepts and spacial awareness. Decisions had to be made as to what size rubber band would work to create different lines and shapes. For example, the long rubber bands work better for longer lines but are too stretched our for smaller lines. Noah showed us how he could make a N for Noah out of rubber bands. Elias followed today making the letter E for Elias. Some kids who had initials with curves had to modify their initial to work with straight lines.
This activity also provided kids the chance to practice their counting skills. We can have four friends using geoboards at one time. Today a few friends walked over to the table, counted the kids there, and realized there were already four classmates there and they could come back later.
