Israeli Video Conference

This morning I attended my first video conference with our Israeli partners in Haifa. Several of us presented materials, ideas and activities that we use in our classrooms with the children in celebration of Chanukah. While we in the Boston area read part of The First Book of The Maccabees in English, our counterparts in Israel read the sections aloud in Hebrew. A cross-global video discussion followed. It is fascinating that in the year 2011, Jews continue to face 2,000 year old issues of assimilation and freedom of worship.

I'm off to Israel in December

This year, thanks to CJP's Boston-Haifa Connection, Hebrew College continues it's "School-to-School" Connection. Participating schools are partnered with an early childhood learning program in Haifa. I am proud to be Temple Beth Shalom's Boston-Haifa Ambassador (Shagrirot). We will be building bridges to our Israeli colleagues impacting children and families in our Boston and Haifa communities. I will be traveling to Israel for a seminar during the December break.
