Temple Beth Shalom Deaconness Hospital

We are now accepting new patients!  It was amazing to watch the diligence, help and focus that went into the care of our babies this morning.  As we worked, we also talked about our own hospital/doctor experiences:

Sonia:  "My mommy and daddy are doctors."

Grayden:  "This baby's kepi has a boo boo.  I think he fell out of a window."

Josh and Bennett:  "I get shots at the doctor.  Sometimes I cry."

Bella:  "I don't go to the doctor anymore."

Lily:  "When I had a bug in my tummy, I went to the doctor."

Bella:  "Me, too...and I stayed home."

Sydney:  "I am going to my doctor soon."

Grayden:  "I am so glad I helped my baby feel better."

Doctors

On Thursday last week, the Rainbows set up a medical clinic out on the playground. This cooperative play was both quiet and patient, as the Doctor attached the blood pressure cuff, sometimes with the help of an Assistant. The Patient was very still and waited quite a while as the pressure was measured. Dr. Madison, Dr. Lizzie, Dr. Max, and Dr. Abby all took part in this play. Jacob was a wonderful patient, and was declared "Just Fine!" by Dr. Madison. This is a great example of the emerging cooperative play that we see from time to time with the Rainbow class.

Dr. Matt Comes to Visit the Unicorn Class

Dr. Matt, Zack's father, came to visit the Unicorn class. He is a doctor who specializes in repairing bones. He repairs bones on your hand, wrist, and elbow. He along with his assistant, Zack, brought in monkey who needed his elbow repaired. After putting on his gloves, Zack helped bandage his monkey. The material used to wrap around was soft and hardened to keep the bones in place. Dr. Matt explained that sometimes he needs to insert a metal bar and screw it in place. Friends were fascinated by this process and eagerly assisted in the placement on the hand bone that Dr. Matt brought in. Thank you Dr. Matt for sharing your time and Zack for sharing your dad !!!

Dr. Lillian makes a Unicorn Class Visit

Dr. Lillian, Jacob's mom came to visit us. She is a special doctor called a cardiologist. Jacob showed us a plastic heart that mommy brought in. We learned that our heart is about the shape of our fist.
Dr. Lillian told us we all hearts and how the food we eat provides us with the nutrients we need to help our blood flow thru our veins. She asked friends what kinds of food they liked? Some answers were brocolli, cereal, grilled cheese.
Thank you Dr. Lillian for sharing your time and Jacob for sharing mommy.
