Family Visits

One of the reasons we love having families visit the Etzim classroom is that it provides us with the opportunity to take great family shots, like this one of Hillary and her family!  Hillary's family had come in to read us The Napping House on Hillary's birthday.  We got a great story and a great family shot.  Today when Hillary was drawing her family on the playground we could pull up this photo for to "help remember her sister!"  Nice work Hillary.

A Great Way to Celebrate!

We love to read books in the Etzim classroom.  When we read a book in our class we start by looking at the cover.  We discuss the cover art and talk about what the book might be about.   We open the book and examine the title page.  Today when we opened our new book we found something new inside.   A bookplate!  We read the inscription and learned that our new book was a gift in honor of Ellen's new brother, Jacob!   We all agreed that a gift of a new book is a great way to celebrate a new brother!   We were asked to read "Jacob's book" many times today!

Happy Birthday Olivia!

The Etzim class celebrated their first birthday today as Olivia turned four. Everyone enjoyed the book Pinkalicious, read to us by Olivia's mom, Jill. We then shared a circle, singing Happy Birthday in English and Hebrew!

Cinco de Mayo Band

Caught up in the festive environment that was our classroom today, a spontaneous Cinco de Mayo band exploded with song and creative instruments!

Celebrating the holiday together!

The Haifa, Kohavim, and Tel Aviv children celebrated Thanksgiving together. When we arrived we placed the fresh fruit plates we prepared, on the tables and then found a seat. After we ate, Sauci read us a Thanksgiving story on the big round rug in the Haifa room.

At the end of the day I thought to myself ,"We have to do this more often!" It was so nice getting together with the Haifa and Kohavim children!
