Havdalah is Fun!

We always enjoy getting together with Tel Aviv and Kohavim, but today was especially joyful!

A Good Read

Children are always invited to bring books from home to share in our classroom. These are popular read-alouds, but also provide a nice opportunity for one peer to read to another. So, the next time you read that book at home five times in a row, remember your child might come in and read it to the class the next day!

Havdallah Monday

The Shamayim class along with the rest of the Children's Center celebrates the end of Shabbat every Monday with a Havdallah service. For the last few weeks we have been invited by the Levana class to celebrate Havdallah with them in their class room.  We sing the prayers and wish each other a good week to come for everyone.  This is such a sweet way for all of us to begin our week.

Haifa Hosts Etzim

Sauci and Allison set a wonderful example for the Haifa and Etzim children by hosting the most lovely Tu B'Shevat seder. After leading us in the Shabbat blessings, Sauci explained the many delicious fruits we would be eating. Our feast included figs, dates, bananas strawberries, mango, and challah! We tried many new things, and had a great time playing with the Haifa class before heading to the sanctuary. Thank you, Haifa!

Taking care of our environment

In the Levana classroom the children are taking care of their environment by watering the herbs they planted. They enjoy filling up the spray bottle and squeezing the water right out onto each plant. They are taking turns and working together. As they also found out, careful aim matters as the water can squeeze further and past the plant and can give whoever is standing nearby a little squirt! The children found that part very funny!

It's bouncing time

What fun it is to release all our energy in the Community Room with a variety of games and obstacle courses. While it's too cold to go outside, this is one of the ways we get exercise. One of the children's favorite sports tool is the sit-upon bouncing ball. As they say when they bounce, "YAY, it's bouncing time!" and "Look at me, I'm bouncing,'" while they are laughing and giggling. Today at Friday lunch bunch the Shamayim, Etzim, and Tel Aviv classes combined for a full 3-4 year old exercise fest!

Another Fine (Motor) Example!

We have oil pastel crayons at our easel, to allow children to draw standing straight up working on a flat surface.  Using crayons or other drawing tools that are small enables children to work on their fine motor grasp.  Harold demonstrates how fun (and colorful) it can be to work this way.
