Mom reminds of....

Earlier in the week we read the book, Diary of a Worm. March 20th~ mom tells me there are three thing I should remember: first, the earth gives us everything we need. What does the world give to us? The children responded that we get food and water from the earth. All of G-d's creatures help the earth in some way. Worms dig tunnels to help the earth breath. We learned that by tunneling in the ground air gets into the soil and makes it loose for our plants to grow more easily. We all have a responsibility and role to play, worms, spiders, and bees. We can help one another take care of our world. What are some things we could do? We could plant seeds, flowers, feed the fish, recycle, pick up trash and keep the earth clean. We all need to work together to take care and help one another take care of our world.

How Can We "Fill the Earth's Bucket?"

The earth "fills our bucket is so many ways! The earth gives us things we need to live and be safe and healthy! The earth gives people, plants, animals, oceans, lakes, food, air to breath and the list goes on and on! So... the question of the day was "How can we fill the earth's bucket?" The children's response, "Put your trash in the garbage, recycle, plant trees and plants, turn off the lights when you leave your house, turn off the water and just use a little."

After our discussion we enjoyed using some of the food the earth gives us and we made a delicious pizza! We used whole wheat dough, tomato sauce, broccoli and cheese. It was delicious! We want to thank the earth for "filling our bucket each and everyday!

Volcano building 101 Day TWO

Today was the MESSY day. The paper mache was ready as were the strips. At first, we did not have gloves. The sensation of this, was quickly dismissed as unsatisfactory in the process. We decided a quick solution was to provide 'gloves'. Soon more boys and girls started to dip and paste. Joshua carefully lined up the strip, dipped, and on to the container it went. What a process. It still doesn't quite look like a volcano. There is much work to be done. Stay tuned. Tomorrow we will need to plan out how to make it BIGGER and WIDER. I  wonder what they will say??? Teachers want to know!!!
