Taking care of our classroom together!

Last week we learned how to use the Adamah clean up necklaces! Here is how it works...
The children have the same job for an entire week. When the teachers ask the children to clean up the classroom, the children go over to their picture on the wall and place their necklace around their neck( their necklace is hanging below their picture). They are asked to look at the picture on their necklace and clean up that area of the classroom.

Mr Sun where are you?

We carried on with our summer fun even without Mr Sun!
We made a delicious tuna noodle casserole for Rosie's Place, made fresh play dough, created framed nature art (this was a big hit last week), play a few games of UNO, at the end of the day we all enjoyed popcorn/pops and stories! What a day!

A Trash Walk Adventure!

Today we took some trash bags and set out on an adventure! The mission /exciting activity was to collect trash on and around the TBSCC grounds! You would not believe what we found...Candy wrappers, plastic bottles, a blue net, paper, glass, and a few soda cans.
We walked along the Temple parking lot, went down to the wooded path, walked through the woods, climbed up the hill and made our way back to the playground to put the trash where it belongs...The trash can!

How Can We "Fill the Earth's Bucket?"

The earth "fills our bucket is so many ways! The earth gives us things we need to live and be safe and healthy! The earth gives people, plants, animals, oceans, lakes, food, air to breath and the list goes on and on! So... the question of the day was "How can we fill the earth's bucket?" The children's response, "Put your trash in the garbage, recycle, plant trees and plants, turn off the lights when you leave your house, turn off the water and just use a little."

After our discussion we enjoyed using some of the food the earth gives us and we made a delicious pizza! We used whole wheat dough, tomato sauce, broccoli and cheese. It was delicious! We want to thank the earth for "filling our bucket each and everyday!

I can do it!

One of our goals in preschool is to support and teach the children to become self sufficient and take care of themselves (and their belongings). On Friday, after playing in the community room, we gathered to begin putting our socks and shoes back on. Rather than the usual "can you help me?"...I looked around and saw all of the children succesfully putting their shoes and socks on themselves! They worked hard and were so proud of their accomplishment - so was I!!!
