Corn Plucking
The children were enthralled with using their fingers to pluck dried kernels of corn from the cob.
It takes time, patience, and finger strength to manipulate/remove the kernels off the cob.

Moon Doctors
On Monday Charlotte, Nicolas, Molly, Noah, Avi ,Adam and I all played doctor. I was the patient and all of the children were the doctors. Molly and Charlotte were the drivers that took us all the way to the moon to see the moon doctor. The moon doctor was the only doctor that could make me feel all better.
Everyone worked together and problem solved to help their patient get better! First it was a shot, in the arm and leg, then they tried medicine. The game lasted for quite sometime ,and the children played and worked well together!

Inside or outside!
The vote is in, peekaboo is our all time favorite game to play! On the playground, in a box, in the bathroom, the Kahol children really like to play "peekaboo I see you"!

2013 TBSCC Carnival...
Due to the early morning clouds and drizzle the TBSCC 2013 Carnival was in the Summer Community Room. Everyone had a great time!
First we gave the children a quick tour of what booths were available and how things worked, then the fun began! A quick stop at the ticket booth, toss it, bowling, face painting, raisin spitting, refreshments/ snack, and last but not least the prizes! I don't know who enjoyed the Carnival more the children or the staff?
The photos say it all... Except the photo of Alex with his face in a plate? He is participating in the raisin spitting game. All we could find was seedless watermelon, so we improvised with raisins!
The children were asked to try to spit one raisin onto a white plate. Alex had a lot of success at this booth. His strategy was to kneel down to the ground and spit the raisins on the plate! Try it sometime, he makes it look easy!

Outdoor Classroom!
One thing is for sure the Kahol children are having a "grand ole time" on the TBSCC playground! The swings, water play, sandbox, and the slides are a few of their favorite activities! Today Alex spent time in the sandbox, on the swing and in the pool filling a buckets with sand and water! Cody enjoyed playing with Rachel in the house, and rode a car on the black top. Grace climbed up and down the swirly, twirly climber many times and walked along the balance beam. When she fell off she got right back on and continued to walk...toe, heel, toe, heel!

Climbing on the TBSCC playground!
Grace and Hannah worked hard to climb all the way up and carefully climbed all the way down, with a little coaching! "Feel with your toes and then bring one hand down, and then the other." They were so pleased with with themselves!

"Swingers"
There are many ways to swing a swing. In this photo Bailey is demonstrating the more traditional way to use the swing. Which is a great way to strengthen and work one's core muscles! Belly swinging is also a exercise to work those abdominal muscles. Go Bailey!
There are other ways to use the swing... Pumping, and I have seen older children stand up on the swing, hold on tight to the chains and swing/rock their body back and forth. Alex put his own spin on swinging today...I am not sure what to call it. What do you think?

Is there a doctor in the house?
Grace, Hannah, and Alex played "doctor" today! Alex went around and listened to everyone's heart...He put the stethoscope in his ears and ta-da, there was a doctor in our house!

Life decisions at 5
Last week Liz asked the Tzahov boys and girls what they would like to be when they grew up.
Just for fun, try to guess who gave each answer. Do you recognize your child's response?

Photos of the Kahol children in action!
-Bailey enjoyed placing the popsicle sticks back in the plastic container. She spent some time placing them in and then pouring them out!
-On the ground Alex led the group (Lindsey, Ellen and Grace) as they balanced and walked along the fence.
-Grace and Hannah enjoy talking to other people on the "two way radio" on the playground!
A fun week was had by all! We worked on the curriculum together for next week! Cornstarch and water colors is a must, water play, and cooking is the plan for the Kahol children in the week to come.
