Adamah Lunch Bunch!

The teachers and children enjoyed eating lunch together. When lunch was over we continued to decorate the pumpkins in our sensory table, and spent some time with Etzim in their room. The moon sand was a big hit! Then we painted with watercolors and finished the day with some outside play!

You Take a Turn, I Take a Turn

Learning how to take turns is a curriculum concept that we work on throughout the year in the Etzim classroom.  Bringing toys from home can lead to some tricky situations when there is a group of 13 children, but it can provide a wonderful opportunity for children to practice this important skill.  Last week Nicolas brought some of his lego people in to share.  We played a game called "My turn, your turn" as we passed the people around the circle.  After a few rounds of this game, the toys play became more elaborate and creative as everyone shared the space and toys without teacher assistance.

 

  

Cute Monkey Robots!

Help children learn to play by joining in the play yourself! Children learn play skills and vocabulary for friendship by the way adults speak to and play with them!

Modeling and coaching how to speak to and play with others is one of Jesse's many strengths! Grace and Hannah asked Jesse to play "monkey robots". Jesse was more than eager to play! Jesse had to hide and Grace and Hannah the "monkey robots", had to find her!

Everyone had so much fun and the game was bonding for both the teacher and the children!

What's Your Mother's Name?

By now, most of you have met Steve Shimshak, who will be the new Etzim lunch bunch teacher.  Steve spent some time with us in our classroom before the break.  As we had just met Steve, we asked Etzim if they had any questions they would like to as him.  They sure did!  Here are the answers:

Steve  is 34 years old.

His mom's name is Marcia

His Dad's name is Dan

He has been a teacher for nine years, six of them as a preschool teacher.

Steve lives with his wife.

The most important things we've learned from spending time with Steve.  He tells good stories, knows lots of fun games and songs, and is a good listener.   We all look forward to spending more time together!
