The Ice Cream Truck: Part I

On Monday, the Adom children found a brand new toy....it was a big cardboard box!  All the kids enjoyed being picked up and placed inside the box, and then being "package deliveries" when the flaps were closed up.  The children enjoyed playing inside of the box, pretending it was a spaceship and/or an ice cream truck.

Playing in the Community Room!

We climbed up the slide, went down the slide on our tushy and stomach. Walked across the balance beam putting one foot in front of the other and some of us walked backward toe heal, toe heal! Both the teachers and children had one thing to say... Hip, hip hooray for the Community Room on a rainy day!

Peace Out Time...

The Lunch Bunch children spent "peace out" time building with magnetiles, writing, drawing and decorating their journals and Jacob Shaw decided to illustrate another book.

Olivia, Adam and Tina joined us once again for lunch!

Apples in the sensory table!

If you put water, apples, bowls and large spoons in the sensory table what do you get?

-apple soup
-sorting the big and small apples
-an apple wash
-apple pie
-splashed with an apple or two
-an apple stand at a farm
-counting apples...How many apples can you fit in the bowl?

Putty or Gak?

Putty was such a hit earlier in the week the children wanted to make it again! First we poured 1 cup of biocolor solution into a large bowl and added 1/2 cup of pink biocolor as well as 1/2 of light gray biocolor. Then the children all took turns mixing. We all took a small piece of the putty and started to play. As the children were playing with the putty I asked them, "How is the putty and gak the same?" Jacob F said, "It's drippy like gak." Rachel said, "It stretches like gak." Jacob S said, "You can roll it like gak." Eli said, "It is sparkly and sometimes gak is sparkly too." Molly said, "It makes my hands have sparkles!" Then I asked the children, "How is the putty different than the gak?" Alana said, "Gak is dryer and it does not stick to your hand like putty." At the end of the day we put the putty away for another day!

Welcome to Israel!

Shalom Welcome to Israel! We boarded the plane with our backpacks on and sat down in our seats, then waited patently until the pilot and co-pilot were ready to fly the plane. As we boarded, the ticket taker stamped our ticket or hand, checked our passports and a flight attendant escorted us to our seat. Once we were in the air, the flight attendant served us popcorn and we listened to songs in Hebrew. The flight was not short, but it worked out well because we had plenty of popcorn. As the plane was landing the flight attendant pointed out items of geographical interest...The Negev Desert, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Haifa etc. When the plane finally touch the ground we all were very hungry(the popcorn just wasn't enough),so we stopped for lunch in the airport and had some hummus, pita bread, and dates.

Indoor Exercise!

Playing in the Community Room on a cold winter day really hit the spot for the Haifa and Tel Aviv All Stars! Mia makes this look easy, as she walks down the slide slowly putting one foot in front of the other gripping the matted slide with her toes/feet. This exercise is really challenging the muscles in her feet and legs!

Musical Bears

We welcomed all bears and other treasured pets to join us today and participate in Unicorn activities. Music with Josh was great and went very well. Upon arriving from home, teddies were all happy and excited. We built the biggest bear cave you've ever seen. Unicorns learned about bears and a little girl named Goldilocks. Miniature Bears were placed in cards for practice in one-to-one correspondence, sorted by color, arranged in shapes and matched by color and number patterns. Eye hand co-ordination, along with fine motor skills were also practiced by cutting out teddy bear hats. All we can say is that we had a beary beary good day!!!

Passing the beanbag is a fun activity in our room.  The songs are fun and give easy directions for movement.
The children love it and ask for more, “do it again!” Great for teaching them their coordination skills as well as in learning their directions (left/right), colors , math and listening skills.
