Watercolors

Watercolor paint flows onto paper in a splash of color. Today, some of the Levana children painted with the traditional dry blocks of watercolor paint. We are learning the language of art, and about the tools we can use to express ourselves. Today we used thick brushes, and began by examining our dry brushes and noticing the way the hair on the brush stands up straight. What's the most comfortable way to hold the brush? We are learning to wet and blot the brush, swirl it around in the paint, and transfer the paint to paper. Soon we will begin to use smaller brushes, special watercolor paper, and liquid watercolor paint that is stronger and bolder than the dry blocks.

New Materials Spark Interest

The Tel Aviv All Stars love to build and build and build. Over the next couple of weeks at least, we are going to expand their opportunities to build with a variety of materials that they themselves select. Some of their ideas today included: blocks, boxes, cardboard, plastic water bottles, sticks, rocks, pine cones, and pillows!

We are going to encourage our young builders to draw pictures of their creations both before and after they have made them. Their excitement today was obvious from the following comments: "We're building a humongous, super tallest building," said Teddy Post. Joshua said, "We have a hundred million pipes we're using!"

Family and friends, please donate any materials that you think our children could creatively use to build.  Thank you!
