Watercolor paint flows onto paper in a splash of color. Today, some of the Levana children painted with the traditional dry blocks of watercolor paint. We are learning the language of art, and about the tools we can use to express ourselves. Today we used thick brushes, and began by examining our dry brushes and noticing the way the hair on the brush stands up straight. What's the most comfortable way to hold the brush? We are learning to wet and blot the brush, swirl it around in the paint, and transfer the paint to paper. Soon we will begin to use smaller brushes, special watercolor paper, and liquid watercolor paint that is stronger and bolder than the dry blocks.

Such little artists! Thanks for sharing! We love seeing pieces of the day at school.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting to learn the process you used to introduce the materials.
ReplyDeleteThey look so intent on what they are doing. Adam is a big fan of watercolor at home as well. Though the first time he did it (he's only done it about twice) he had more paint on his hands and face than on the paper. It's a great photo!! :)
