Safe Travels, Judi!

Judi is going to Israel tomorrow!  Today, at circle, she spent some time talking about what her trip would be like.  She leaves late tomorrow night and will travel through the night and arrive in Israel the next morning.  Some of the children wondered if she was going to wear her pajamas on the plane!  Judi said she'd wear comfy clothes, but not pajamas.

Judi also showed pictures of Tina's trip to Israel.  The children saw some of the buildings in Israel.  The ones in Jerusalem didn't look like the ones we have near us.  But, some of the ones in Tel Aviv did!  Speaking of Tel Aviv, Judi showed us where Tel Aviv is on a map and we noticed that it is by the water.  We were excited to see pictures of the beaches and Rose wanted to make sure that Judi had packed her bathing suit!

Finally, Judi read Sammy Spider's trip to Israel.  In the book, Sammy goes to many of the places that Judi will visit next week.  When he visited the Western Wall (Kotel), Judi stopped to explain one of the traditions of visitors at the Wall.  The children sat with Judi and she jotted down the wishes and hopes of the Shamayim children.  She plans to bring the note with her to Israel and put it into the Wall when she gets to Jerusalem.

We wish Judi a safe, memorable and exciting trip.  We can't wait to see you when you come back!!

Owl Goes to China (and Seattle)

Our class Owl recently traveled to China with Max's dad, Jeff.  The Unicorns were tickled pink to see Owl sitting on his own seat on the plane.  We had a good time imagining where Owl was in the photos Jeff took in China.  While Owl was gone we found China on the map and saw just how far away it was.  Owl also had a layover in Seattle, with a nice shot of the Public Market!  Thank you, Jeff.  Our Owl is sure getting around!
 

How Many Days??

Yesterday Sauci dropped a bomb on the class. She told us that she was leaving for Paris for a week!! She pulled out a map, and showed the children where we live in Boston in relation to Paris, which is in a country called France. The children were having a hard time understanding how long she would be gone, so we made a countdown in the corner. At the end of each day, we are crossing off a number, so we know how many school days are left! We got to cross off our first number today, and the kids made sure I didn't forget!

We all hope that Sauci is having a great time!
