The Seahorse Castle

Rylan was kind enough to invite Ally, Lauri and Eli over to the sandbox to build a "Seahorse Castle". He informed them that they had to be very careful, as this was hard and dangerous work! Eli was the "patter" and the rest of the crew were the "diggers". This was such a big job we almost had to ask Ellen to get us some hard hats and close off the area!

Can you carry a bubble?

The new favorite outdoor activity this week seems to be bubble-blowing! This activity started out small, with me blowing the bubbles for Avery to pop. Avery then invited Zack to pop bubbles with her, and soon the two of them were joined by many other friends. Some were more ambitious and wanted to blow the bubbles themselves, rather than just popping them. By the end, all of our friends were taking turns blowing bubbles for each other to pop. Some friends were even clever enough to figure out how to catch the bubbles on their bubble wands and carry them around! What a great way to get all of our friends playing together!!

Exploring Water

Water is a readily available, inexpensive material that young children enjoy. Although children make discoveries through unorganized water play, more varied opportunities to learn about water are provided when you help them focus on specific aspects of water play. We have found that children will remain at a water table for long periods of time when they are investigating a problem suggested by the teacher, a classmate, or a new discovery.

Today while Sam playing with water, bottles and tubes Sam made a new discovery when he created a "WATER MACHINE!" I asked Sam, "What does a water machine do?" Sam replied "It takes water places!" Laura asked Sam another interesting question, "How did you come up with this idea to make a Water Machine?" Sam replied, "Because that is the right idea!" Sam, we want to thank you for sharing your discovery and findings with all of us!

Dancing Action Is so much fun

Dancing Nancy comes to visit us with lots of "Animal Action". We first need to stretch and get our bodies ready for "Action". We twist around, make our bodies wide, point and stretch our toes, and tap our feet 1, 2, 3 and 4. We balance our bodies using balls, stomach muscles, sitting on top of our balls balancing carefully on top so as not to fall, and we try to roll on our back. We pretend to be different animals... bees, lions, spiders, and frogs.
Thank you Dancing Nancy for teaching how many different ways we can move our bodies and have fun!!!

Engineer at work

Avram always loves to build at camp and to share stories with the counselors and other children around him. Here, Avram is combining two of his favorite camp activities. He is building a train as he tells a story about his own trip on a train. He lights up as he remembers and talks of taking the purple line to the aquarium.
