Water Play!
Jesse did not have her bathing suit today, but that did not stop her! She pulled up a seat and sat right in the pool! There was a lot of pool action today... Eskimo kissing, filling buckets with water, and water play with, "fishes"!

How to keep cool in the heat...
The Kahol children know how to keep cool on a hot summer day...
Climbing/balancing on tree stumps in the shade , giving high fives to friends on the swings ,filling and emptying buckets with water, eating snack inside with the Adom children, and clearly juice pops are an absolute must!

Preparing for the TBSCC Carnival!
The children had fun making the prizes for the carnival! They painted rocks and made bracelets with beads and pipe cleaners. Everyone will receive a prize at the end of the carnival!
Tomorrow we will turn our playground into a carnival! The booths will include...Toss It, Face Painting, Watermelon Spitting Seed Fun, Bowl It, Sock It. We will make and eat popcorn the old fashion way, with a real popcorn popper! For those of us that are thirsty at the carnival, we be serving a delicious refreshing fruit punch!

Opportunities to draw, scribble and write!
Ellen brought us this great big box! I asked the children if they wanted to decorate or draw on the box... I placed the markers out on the floor and the photos tell the rest of the story!
Tomorrow I will ask the children "How can we use this box?". We will also continue to decorate it with other materials.
We spent some time in Jesse's classroom and the children played ,"Ice Cream Store" in the dramatic play area. Cody picked up a clipboard and started to take everyone's order! Alex prepared the ice cream! It was a team effort!
Nico Rachel's nephew joined us for the day! Nico it was so nice to meet you! Come back to play real soon!

The Bike Rodeo...
The Bike Rodeo was a big hit once again! There were scooters, bikes, cars and even a lawn mower, believe it or not! That's right Cody brought his very own mower! But shortly after Cody arrived a school he had a change of heart, and really wanted to ride his own bike at the rodeo. So, Cody's mom was kind enough to go home to get it! Go Cody!
Alex brought his scooter to the 2013 TBSCC 2nd Bike Rodeo! He was like a "rock star " on his scooter! He rode around the course like a champ! Pushing his foot onto the pavement, weaving in and out and all about! Go Alex!

I Spy... A Puzzle
This week in Yarok Bet, we worked on a I Spy floor puzzle. Hayley, Sydney, Harold, Lily and Ellen used the colored edge to build the boarder of the puzzle before filling in the middle pieces. They had fun taking turns with the pieces and helping each other orient the pieces to fit. Each time they completed the puzzle, they smiled with their accomplishment.

Nathan's birthday celebration
Nathan and his Mom shared two wonderful books about trucks in honor of Nathan's birthday! Both books had big colorful pictures and exciting facts about trucks that we see on the road and at construction sites. The whole class got very excited while Nathan and his Mom showed the class the Richard Scary book about trucks. Nathan showed how on every page there is a hidden character named Goldbug that everyone can find. All the children were so excited to try and find Goldbug on every page!
Thank you Nathan and Jenny for sharing the Richard Scary book with our class for the day, and for sharing Nathan's love of trucks!

Noah's story song.
On Monday this week, Noah S. asked if he could sing for the class after lunch. For his request, after we all cleaned up, we all excitedly headed for the rug to listen to what song Noah wanted to sing for us. To our surprise Noah had created his own storysong! Noah's song began about a dog that was running in the street and soon transformed into a whole story about a bulldozer, and dog and the funny things they got into together! Thank you for entertaining us Noah! We loved your storysong!

Vanilla Pudding
Our TBSCC children love to cook. Eliza holds up the box of vanilla pudding we prepared for snack. First we empty the contents of the box, add milk, stir and wait about 2 minutes for the pudding to set. Voila. A tasty snack. It was so delicious that some of the children had second helpings.
Leo empties the contents of the pudding package into a large bowl

Whee...

While riding the mini-car, Elias discovered an incline in the outdoor pavement and had a grand time riding down.
Go, Elias, go!

Swooper Came Back!
Due to overwhelming demand Swooper Chad Cohen made another special appearance at TBSCC this week! Everyone enjoyed listening to Swooper sing and accompany the children as they made beautiful music with the instruments. The children stood around Swooper and observed him for quite a long time. Jacob and Olive offered Swooper, bird finger puppets as they thought he might like to play with them. How thoughtful was that! Mia took some great photos of Swooper, decorated his cage, and made him a card. Swooper showed his appreciation and joined us for lunch...His lunch included angel hair pasta with cantaloupe as a side dish.

Music
Often after we come in from the playground and get into dry clothes, the children enjoy music. Today I brought out the xylophone along with bongos which always get a big response. Those children who are familiar with the xylophone from last year, let out a shout of glee and excitement. This instrument makes the lovliest of sounds.

Kids Just Want to Have Fun!

A little bit of threatening sky and raindrops couldn't keep us inside today. The children love playing outside in the playground. Abby blew bubbles with Kira while Sydni slid down the slide. Adam uses a hockey stick in the sandbox, Olive rides the truck and Sam practices with a hula hoop. There are always lots of options for play this summer on the playground.

Homemade popsicles on a hot summer day!
Homemade 100% juice popsicles on a hot summer day, was welcomed by all! When Ellen brought them outside for us, she asked the children to please bring back their plastic stick when they were done... So we can make more popsicles next week. Each and every child brought back their plastic stick. Thank for remembering, next week I think grape pops are on the menu.

And the fun continues!
Today was another fun packed, exciting, and Summery day here at TBSCC's summer camp! More new faces joined us on the playground and in the classrooms today for sun, fun, water play and games! The Adom Team welcomed two more friends into the classroom today and new project as well. Today in the Adom Classroom, our team started a large mural/painting project that will continue to be open and added too everyday! We have paint, glitter, feathers, tissue paper, and colored wood shaving to add to our project and hopefully we will find more fun items to add in the new few days! Also, a new toy in the classroom "Block Head" has been a popular attraction. This game involves balancing wood blocks on top of each other, and today Sam P. and Matthew took on the challenge and stacked ALL the blocks! It was another fantastic day, and look forward to what Thursday has in store!
