What does it Take to Build a Sukkah?

TEAM WORK!!!!

Unicorn friends had fun collecting things found in nature to build our classroom Sukkah.

And the Winner Is ?? Lunch bunch News ~All Stars

Lunch bunch friends have spoken, and it appears that we will be working with CLAY for our first theme related experience. We will be exposing children to various types of clay, earth clay and polymer clay through out our 6 week period.

Our goals are various, but most importantly, it is provide your children with the opportunity to manipulate clay, using various techniques: pinching, slab, and coiling, to create their own unique masterpieces.

We will have an art gallery of sculptures they can look art and touch just to provide them with a realm of creative possibilities. Like famous artists, their art pieces will be completed over time.

In addition, we will have the centers set up for other interests: magna tile building, journal writing, painting, and dramatic play. Here Daniel is taking in orders for his restaurant in the dramatic play area. Perhaps our next theme related activity will be cooking. Stay tuned...

Q'Tip Painting

Eli, Jacob, Rachel, Lily, Dylan, and Lily K. were very excited about decorating our classroom Sukkah. The challenge was to use a "different" tool for painting. We used Q'tips to paint our apples to help strengthen and develop our fine motor skills. It took a great deal of persistence and hard work to make our master pieces.

Calling all Graduates!!!

Ella, Lily's sister, and a graduate of TBSCC, shares her gift of story telling with the Unicorn class. She reads one of our favorite books, " Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see?". Thank you Ella for sharing your gift of storytelling with us. All graduates, siblings, and all family members are welcome to read to us anytime!!!

Learning to shake the lulav

Learning to shake the lulav can be harder than it looks. It's long body makes it heavy. Stand facing east with your lulav. Then you have to remember all six directions, shaking it 3 times in each one:
In front
To the right
Behind
To the left
Up above towards the sky
Down towards the ground

Shaking the lulav is a mitzvah, a commandment, of Sukkot that all of the children at TBSCC got to complete. If you want to have a go, stop by and borrow or lulav. Your child will show you what to do.

Challah delivery

It's not Friday morning without the arrival of the challah truck. Shortly after it pulled up, future TBSCCer Lindsay was then spotted coming down the hall with challah for each classroom's snack as well as challah express deliveries. The sights and scents of Shabbat add a sense of excitement and anticipation to the air on Friday mornings.
