Where am I?

Sam had a idea. He stood the tunnel upright and climed inside. He pulled it over his head. "Where am I?" came the voice from inside the tunnel. And then pop! Down it came and up popped a head. Surprise! It was the live version of a jack-in-the-box.

The Chester Report!

Hannah took Chester home for Thanksgiving. Chester had quite an active long weekend...He did not stop! Chester went to the Muppet's Show, listened to stories (thank you Jack), ate yummy bagels, went to Nana's and Grandpa's for a delicious Thanksgiving feast and last but not least watched an exciting Patriots game with the whole family!

Journals

Today the Lunch Bunch children spent "peace out time" writing , drawing and talking about their journals. Everyone had a different idea and illustrated it, as they shared their thoughts/ideas with the group. Molly created a "Volcano", Alana a "Rocket Robot", Aviva a "Princess Land", and Jacob a "Mr. Nobody".

Happy Birthday Teddy Friedman

Thank you Michael for coming in to read to us as we celebrated Teddy's fifth birthday. The children loved hearing The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Teddy was clearly thrilled to have you in the class, and the children always feel it's a special treat when a dad comes in to read to them. They love the moms too of course but dads aren't in as much. A special thanks Michael for taking our frogs, Joe and Bob, home with you over the Thanksgiving Day break. They came back in tip top shape!

Winter is coming...

Today we had circle time outside. We walked on over to the wooded area on the outskirts of the parking lot, sat down and had circle time. We read a few Fall books. One book was about a bear that knows it is almost time for a Winter nap.
But first she must tell snail and snail must tell turtle etc. Each animal who tries to put off going to sleep just a little longer sees, smells, hears, tastes signs of of the impending season.

We looked for signs of Winter up in the sky (the bare trees), and down on the ground (leaves). We talked about hibernation and some way animals prepare for the Winter(birds fly south, squirrels gather berries and nuts etc).

Calling All Doctors and Babies!

If you were sick yesterday in the Unicorn classroom-- have no fear! Dr. Abby, Dr. Harper, and Dr. Olive were here to help (and Chef Sam C. was there to make your tummy full!).

After we divided into our small groups (blue team or orange team) our orange team friends found our doctor's kit buried in the Dramatic Play Kitchen. Some friends wanted to be babies and some friends wanted to be doctors. Then our doctors got to work making everyone feel better. After a little bit of time, we developed a waiting room because there were too many sick babies and not enough places to stretch out to get a check up. Our hospital chef- Sam C kept everyone well fed while they were busying between patients, waiting in the living room, or just need something to eat while they were busy being sick.

Look ~ Can I build this?

The Kohavim boys and girls arrived back from Thanksgiving break to a new challenge. On the tree trunk of our playground there was a picture of a wooden structure. We asked the children, if they thought they could build something similar, and also to think of what materials they could use. From the picture the first item they said they needed were 'lots of sticks' 'tree seeds' 'tree branches'. Then in the planning process what else did they think we might need? Some boys and girls thought we would need 'glue and a 'rope' for the structure to stand. Off we went to explore and gather sticks and branches. Everyone worked cooperatively and gathered all the sticks in a big pile, some were long, wide, and some were small. Now came the real challenge. We didn't have rope or glue, but somehow by positioning the sticks just so they stood up. When asked why they thought this happened, some thought "the bigger longer sticks made it steady and together, the bottom sticks helped hold up the top ones!!! Great thinking boys and girls!!! They decided that it was a campfire and wooden fort, so we had snack and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
