Guess Who's Three?

 

The Keshet class was pleased to celebrate Eva's birthday today with a visit from Eva's mom and two wonderful books. We listened attentively as we heard Caps for Sale, and Happy Birthday, Moon, and we seranaded Eva to Happy Birthday in English and in Hebrew. Thanks for spending time with us, Margie, and congratulations, Eva!

Happy Birthday Josh Van Dam

Duck or Rabbit? That was the question of the day. We all had fun giving our input and listening to the entertaining books that Allyson read today. It's incredible to think that our children are turning 6 already.  Congratulations to Josh on reaching this milestone. Thank you Allyson and Abby for joining us in the celebration.

Adam's Birthday

It was Adam's birthday celebration in school today. His Dad and sister Mia joined us to read two popular books - both about the muppets. Everyone shared their favorite muppet and some of the children recognized and "read" along with Rabbi Todd as he read Cookie's ABC's .

Happy Birthday, Sonia

The Levana class was delighted to have Sonia's parents join us for an early celebration of Sonia's third birthday, which is on December 29. All were in a festive mood as we prepared for the first night of Chanukah, and we shared in a wonderful sing-along which included David Melech Yisrael, This Land is Your Land, Old MacDonald, Eight Little Candles and, of course, Happy Birthday. Thank you, Marissa and Eric, for spending this relaxing time with us and filling our classroom with music. Sonia, we're glad the celebrations began here!

Happy Birthday Eli!

Eli turned 4 years old today! Mara came in to celebrate with us! We read a few books and sang 'Happy Birthday" in both English and Hebrew! Eli thanks for celebrating your birthday with us, it sure was special!

Happy Birthday, Samantha

Another member of the Levana class has turned three! We celebrated Samantha's special day on Friday. We love to mark these occasions with songs, favorite stories, and crowns. Samantha set the bar high for future crowns, spending much time and effort on hers and using an artful and amazing arrangement of foam stickers.

Happy Birthday, Micah

The Rosin family came into the Levana class today to celebrate Micah's third birthday.Micah's Dad, Jeff read The Little Blue Truck by Alice Shertle. Leo joined us from the Haifa class. It's such a treat for us to see older sibling come in to celebrate their younger sibling's special day.

Happy Birthday, Elias

The Levana class celebrated the year's first birthday today, as Elias turned three. His classmates were happy to join him in celebration, as we decorated crowns with stickers, and enjoyed a book read by Elias's mom. Today was also the first day of school for seven children, so it was certainly a busy day. Thank you for joining us, Karen!

Happy Birthday, Abby and Sam

The Rainbows celebrated Abby's and Sam's birthdays this week with some wonderful books and a visit from their mom, Rachel. Sam chose a classic favorite, Corduroy. Abby chose Cupcakes, which gave all the Rainbows a chance to pick their favorite cupcake. Later Abby read Caillou; the Rainbows are always up for a good book! For snack we enjoyed two delicious breads, apple and banana, made by Rachel, Sam and Abby. Best of all, we shared the laughter and comraderie that always accompany our Rainbow birthday celebrations. Thank you, Rachel!

Happy Birthday, Lizzy!

Thursday we had the pleasure of a visit from Lizzy's parents. They brought two favorite stories from home to share as part of our celebration of Lizzy's 3rd Birthday. Everyone was surprised when Lizzy said that she would like to be the first to read to the class. She shared a story, then her Dad read to us, and her Mom wrapped up the reading. We sang Happy Birthday first in English, then in Hebrew. It was a wonderful morning and a special celebration.

Happy Birthday Jared!

On Tuesday, the Rainbows celebrated Jared's 3rd Birthday. His mother shared a favorite Curious George story with help from Jared who provided the end to many of the sentences. Jared's big sister Abby did a wonderful job reading us a counting story as well. It was fun to see a former Scientist back at the Children's Center.

Happy Birthday, Leo

What a day to celebrate! During the joyous festival of Purim, and on Shabbat, we welcomed the Rosin family for Leo's fourth birthday.
Despite all the excitement of costumes, the Sunshines listened intently as Leo's Dad read Albert the Fix-it Man, by Janet Lord. This was a wonderful choice, reflecting Leo's great interest in fixing things, and demonstrating the value of helping others and the importance of community. Albert is a mensch who can fix anything, and who generously helps his neighbors with repairs. When Albert is sick one day, the neighbors come together to lend a hand, and Albert is soon on the mend. This says so much to the children about how we can care for and cooperate with one another. Our thanks to Sara, Jeff, Micah and Travis for joining the Sunshine class to share this story and to celebrate Leo's special day.

Max has a Birthday!

Today we celebrated Max's third birthday with the Rainbows! We made birthday crowns in honor of Max's special day. Max brought his Mom and Dad to join the class this morning. They shared two stories with us, and made us some tasty cornbread for a treat.

Planning Ahead

Nathan was on a call from home today in the housekeeping area. He reported that he was talking to Mommy, Daddy, and Sophie.
Where are they? "At home. They're getting ready for my birthday."
What are they doing? "They're blowing up balloons now."
What will you have to eat on your birthday? "Cake and bagels."
When is your birthday? "July."
All the Rainbows enjoy thinking about their special day. What fun, on a gray February day, to look forward to a summer birthday!

Jake's Birthday Celebration

Friday was Jake's 4th Birthday celebration at school. Mom (Amy), Dad (Josh-thanks to that snow day everywhere else, we got to have him too) and sister Lindsay. Jake's dad read us one of Jake’s favorite book: “Too many toys “by David Shannon. It's a book about Spencer who has too many toys. He has robots, puzzles, board games, stuffed animals, and plastic action figures. Toys spill out of every drawer and closet and clutter the floor of every room. Have you ever tried to get to your kitchen and tripped over a race car? Spencer's house has become hazardous. Something has to be done!
Spencer tries to persuade his mother to keep them all—because every single toy is his favorite. In the end, it's not a store-bought toy but the give-away box itself that captures Spencer's attention. It's a fun and colorful story that we all enjoyed.
Our friends get to choose how they want their birthday chair decorated, Jake chose an ambulance car and his friends helped decorate it. We sang Happy Birthday in Spanish, Hebrew, English and in the silly way too. Thank you Jake for sharing your mom, dad and Lindsay with us.

Drew's Birthday Celebration

Today was Drew's 4th Birthday Celebration.
Drew's mom (Liz),dad (David)and sister Lily(a Unicorn graduate)came into our classroom to celebrate Drew's 4th birthday with us! Lily read the book How Many Ways Can you cut a pie? by Jane Belk Moncure. It's a wonderful book about a squirrel who promises to divide her pie into sections for her animal friends if she wins the pie contest. Lily did an awesome job!
We sang Happy Birthday in English , Hebrew, Spanish and in the silly way. Thank you Drew for sharing your mom ,dad and Lily with us.

Happy Birthday Hadley!

Hadley woke up at five o'clock this morning and could not wait until it was time to go to school! Today was no ordinary day for Hadley...Her Mom(Tracy) and her big brother Drew(a TBSCC graduate) were coming into the classroom, to celebrate her fourth birthday! Drew read a book to the entire class! Hadley was so proud of Drew! After our birthday celebration Drew and Tracy joined us for some gross motor fun with Dancing Nancy.

Happy Birthday, Jacob

The Sunshine class celebrated Jacob's birthday today with a visit from Jacob's mom, dad, and baby brother. We enjoyed hearing the tale of Curious George in the City; we can see that Jacob dressed in the theme of the story! It is always a special time for us when families come to visit. The children love to see one another's parents and siblings; we all value the relationships that we are building, not just among the children, but with whole families of our TBSCC community.

Happy Birthday, Eli

So much to do during this busy week of Thanksgiving, but we always love to take time to gather for a book and some songs on a Sunshine's special day. Eli's third birthday was celebrated on Monday, and Mara treated the Sunshine class to a story, Calling All Engines, one of the popular Thomas books. Eli was born on Thanksgiving Day in 2007, a wonderful gift to his family. Our class is thankful for Eli, too; he is a friend to all.
