Meeting Abigail

Earlier this week Olivia made the observation that she knows the teachers and kids at school, and she knows her sister, Abigail, but we don't know each other.  We thought about ways we might get to know Abigail and decided to invite her in for a visit.  It turned out Kindergarten was cancelled today, so Abigail spent the morning with us.  We had a great time playing and learning together.  Thanks for visiting Abigail, and thanks for the great idea, Olivia!

Molly visits Etzim

Last Friday the Etzim class welcomed a Shabbat guest as Jack's sister, Molly joined us. Molly was a busy guest, helping us with Shabbat blessings, sharing snack and them reading books to the Etzim friends. Thanks, Molly! We loved having you visit!

A Day Full of Visitors!!

The Tel Aviv class had many fun visitors yesterday in Jerusalem! Elias' older brother Toby came in with a book about Balto and then a trumpet performance. Wow! The Keshet kids heard the beautiful music and were so curious they decided to join as well! Toby played dreidel, dreidel, twinkle twinkle little star and hot cross buns! It was exciting to hear music we recognize! 

After that Zach's older siblings Chloe and Max came to visit Jerusalem with us. They read us a book about how life in Israel if different from life in America and then they helped us throughout our class. Max worked hard creating a sign for our shuk and Chloe helped kids write notes to put in our Western Wall. It was so much fun having so many visitors!

My Sister Can Tumblesault!

Last week, we had a sibling visit and read us a book.  Jack told us,"My sister can't read but she can do really good tumblesaults."  So we invited Molly upstairs to show us all how to do this tricky move!  Molly was very proud of her  tumbling, but Jack was even prouder of his big sister!   Nice moves, Molly!  Thanks for teaching Etzim!

Sisterly Love

Today Mia's sister, Sadie and Olivia's sister, Isabelle, came to visit the Etzim classroom. 
Isabelle, who is in second grade, read us two books.  Sadie, who is in Kindergarten,
shared some stretches with us and then recited a poem.  Everyone enjoyed
some time with our special guests.  Thank you girls.  We hope to see you
again soon.  We loved having teaching assistants!  We will work on our
flexibility, Sadie!

A Special Guest!!

This Friday Rashi didn't have school so Josie's big sister Evie came in to read us a special story: If You Take A Mouse to School! It was great to hear a new twist one one of my own childhood favorites! Evie read with such expression and the whole class was captivated for not only one, but a second story as well! Thanks so much Evie! It was great to see you! 

Do you know my sister?

Micah and I were working on cards that shared what we were thankful for. Micah made a special one for his sisters Lexi and Raelyn; however I wasn’t quite sure how to spell Raelyn so we went on a mission! We stopped by Rachel Block desk in the K-12 learning office and Micah asked her if he knew how to spell Raelyn. She looked it up on her computer and was able to tell him! He was so happy that he could so easily find out how to spell his sister’s name! It was also really special that Rachel knew Micah’s sister Raelyn and knew that Micah was her little brother. Sometimes it’s easy for younger siblings to think of TBSCC and Mayim as two separate schools since they meet at different times, but it is times like these where kids realize that they and their siblings are known throughout the building by teachers and staff and we enjoy making the connections as much as they do!

Siblings Help With Drop-Off

Sometimes it isn't easy saying goodbye to Mom, Dad or a sibling during morning drop-off. Today Samantha Levine's sister Hannah, who is a student in Kohavim, helped transition Samantha into a classroom activity after Mom left. It was sweet to see an older sibling spend a little extra time (in Noah's Ark) to make her sister happy.Thank you to Hannah for helping Samantha and spending some time with us in Levana!

The Levanas Love Me

Sadie recently commented to her teacher, Alison, that she felt very popular in the Levana classroom. She stops by occasionally to visit Mia and check out her old classroom. Her visits and her hug for Mia prompt a lot of the other Levana children to line up for a hug. Sadie is generous and patient in greeting each of them; these sibling visits are heartwarming for all of us!

A Special Visitor

The Levana children enjoyed a special visit with Isabelle, Olivia's older sister. Isabelle, a TBSCC alumna, remembered when older siblings had come to read in her classes, and she was happy to join us on a recent delayed-opening day to read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The book was a great choice for the children, and Isabelle did a wonderful job reading and showing us the pictures. Thank you Isabelle! We hope you will come again.

Happy Birthday, Micah

The Rosin family came into the Levana class today to celebrate Micah's third birthday.Micah's Dad, Jeff read The Little Blue Truck by Alice Shertle. Leo joined us from the Haifa class. It's such a treat for us to see older sibling come in to celebrate their younger sibling's special day.
