Last week, we had a sibling visit and read us a book. Jack told us,"My sister can't read but she can do really good tumblesaults." So we invited Molly upstairs to show us all how to do this tricky move! Molly was very proud of her tumbling, but Jack was even prouder of his big sister! Nice moves, Molly! It is rewarding when a child accomplishes something that makes him/her feel on top of the world. Teddy Post has been so excited by our map unit that he couldn't wait to finish his map today and show it to everyone. We were hoping to hang it up but had to settle for taking a picture of it since Teddy was especially excited to share his map with his mom. On the map he drew a picture of Needham, Puerto Rico, Florida, and Monterey. These were all places that he has visited and obviously has fond memories of. The children have shown a strong interest in learning about maps and making maps of their rooms, houses, etc. If you have any unusual maps that you would like us to take a look at together, please send them in. The more unique the better as we are teaching the children about the many different kinds of maps that exist. We may be working on this for awhile since there are a lot of directions in which we can go based on their interests. 
A few weeks ago Ellen started teaching us some sign language. The children were very eager and enthusiastic learners and rush to the Bima to demonstrate their new sign language skills.
Friends took a moment from their busy schedule and mail deliveries to visit the Art Gallery we created from their work. 
It was a "family" day on election day in the Unicorn room.
