It's All In the Q-tip

The Etzim children have been practicing making circles in a number of different mediums, all leading up to their final work on our Taste of the Town project!   We were doing very well, but could we paint circles onto a piece of wood?   As you can see, the Etzim children have surpassed all expectations and you will soon see their must-be-owned collaborative artwork!

building a yellow house

Noah Sirlin loves to climb to the top of the play structure.  He is able to do it carefully and swiftly and rarely needs help adjusting himself or getting down.  Today he said "Rebecca, I'm going to make you a yellow house."  He climbed to the top of his "ladder", hooked his underarms over the top rail and began moving his fist up and down and back and forth like a hammer.  What a great imagination...and... how did he know I've always wanted a yellow house!!!

Dancing Nancy gets us Moving...

You can see in this series of photos that was taken early in our half hour of fun with Dancing Nancy that the kids are working hard on gross motor skills. From clapping behind your back to swaying side to side, many muscles get involved. Of course, you can see the joy on their faces as well. In the last photo, you can see that Sophie literally kicks up her heels!

And here are the Rainbows in action:

Yoga Time for Tel Aviv!

Last Wednesday the Tel Aviv class had some fun “yoga” time. We stretched our body and moved to songs we knew. We did some traditional yoga moves like “tree pose,” “child’s pose” and “downward dog.” Also we practiced some of the stretches that some of the students do in dance class. All the girls were excited to teach the boys the butterfly stretch and show me how flexible they were. Yoga helps students with balance, flexibility and understanding their body in space, plus it’s fun! Our yoga play was a great addition to our morning circle and we hope to practice again soon!

What is an edible Torah??

It is all about food in the Unicorn Class!
To complete our Simchat Torah celebration we decided to make edible Torahs. We learned that "edible" means you can eat it.
You might want to ask your children what ingredients we used to make our Torahs. And what they needed to do first, second, and third in the preparation process, before they could say "It's delicious!
Such great chefs.
