The Keshet children came ready to party today, and had a great time parading throughout TBS in costume and joining together with the other classes for the reading of the Megillah in the sanctuary. It was a fun and exhausting day!

Paint, Paint all over our face!

After we created our collages Jacob, Micah and Max decided that they wanted their faces painted with the face paint crayons like the Tel Aviv class. Max and Jacob were SO excited to be pumpkins for purim by painting their whole face orange. However, as soon as they were given the opportunity to paint their own faces they squealed with delight as they painted their faces every color of the rainbow. The boys both colored their own faces and colored each others. By using their own face they were able to realize that you have to apply different amounts of pressure on different parts of your face to make the colors show. Soon Jacob became a clown and Max became a spider. Micah stayed a cow which is what he was earlier in the day, he just grew to become a rainbow clown. I love how the boys used the colors to give themselves costumes and identities and then they took on the roles of the characters they created. It's neat to watch how art can inspire imagination. The boys had a fantastic time, and if they ever ask to do it at home just know that the crayons come off very easily with baby wipes! Happy Purim everyone!

A Sampling of Purim Joy
The Rainbows had a wonderful time celebrating Purim together. I'm sure you'll recognize some of them if you look closely. Don't be fooled into thinking we would let a real lion into our classroom! Roar...
The Rainbows enjoyed parading around the temple and listening as Rabbi Todd read the megillah. It was quite impressive to hear all of the TBS Children's Center children yelling "Boo!" together as they shook their varied groggers at the sound of Haman's name.
If my camera battery hadn't given up, I would have shared more photos. Stay tuned, as I believe Marissa had better luck.

Rainbows make Hamantaschen
Sophie's mother, Mrs. Sherman, was very kind to come and
teach us how to make the special hamantaschen cookies we
enjoy at Purim. We loved making them and then eating them
for snack today. Thank you so much for your help, Mrs. Sherman!

Making costumes
Our dramatic play area was very busy today as the Unicorn children pretended to be on their way to a Purim carnival. We made our own costumes, which included a "headband with a bow" for everyone. We also made Purim masks, but we love glue soooo much that it might be next Purim before they are dry enough to wear!
Hamantaschen Fun

Thank you Rebecca for coming in to help make hamantaschen with us!!! Thank you Teddy for sharing mom with us as well. As one can see the boys had fun, filling those circles with delicious treats, and then making them into 'triangles'. That was pretty tricky.

It Happened in Shushan
The Kohavim boys and girls love to play games. We made a game board of the main characters of Purim, King Ahasuerus, Mordecai, Haman, and Esther. We took turns rolling the dice and moving spaces until we collected all the character pieces. The first person to collect all four pieces was the winner. Though everyone wanted to win, we realize there is a winner, but we can always continue to play, enjoying the process.

Can you help me please??
Teddy Fox wanted to finish his Haman masks. Jesse had already finished his and graciously agreed to help his friend finish his.
Thanks Jesse, that was kind and helpful.
Meet the 'Mustache' Family
We started with masks, but soon the children got creative on their own. Teddy Fox started the group w/ his red mustache and soon there were many followers. Such fun working together and using our imaginations.

Round go the groggers, rash, rash, rash ( 3x)

Purim!
From the Scientist class, we wanted to wish all of our friends and family a wonderful Purim! We had a fantastic day filled with costumes, stories, laughter, groggers, sweets, and SUNSHINE! This morning, our students waited eagerly for each of their friends to arrive to see what their costumes were going to be. Today, on a day filled with happiness and the resilience of the Jewish people, our Scientists truly celebrated!
