It is not so simple

The children have learned a new racing game. They have asked to play this with Steve every day. On the surface the game appears to be quite simple. Roll the die and move the color chosen. The children learned the rules of the game immediately. However, Steve has been working with them on self regulation skills such as taking turns, waiting for your turn to come again and how to understand that it is OK not to win. Everyone wants to win but only one person can come in first. The children are learning that it is OK to come in second, third, etc.
