Wednesday after school Alison rearranged our classroom. The loft is not against the wall and the stove, refrigerator and sink are where the loft was before. The sensory table is perpendicular to the wall and now can accommodate more Haifa children. The writing center has moved to be near the kitchen area to facilitate writing grocery lists, menus, etc. The listening center is next to the writing table. The art center is more clearly defined. Now we can take advantage of some vertical surfaces to help develop strength in hands. The blocks are pretty much the same except that the magna tiles are in a bin on the floor.
So we knew the children were going to be surprised and we sat in the classroom and waited for the children to arrive and snap their expressions as they saw the change. It was priceless.
We look forward to Shabbat Shindig tomorrow so you can come and see the new Haifa classroom.
Documenting children's reactions was so creative and such a great visual for this blog post! It really made the focus on the children rather than on the space. What an exciting and thoughtful transformation!
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't even notice this today. I guess I am not as observant as the kids are. :)
