Purim is celebrated by giving mutual gifts of food and drinks! Today the Sunshine and Tel Aviv partnered up and made Mishloach Manot Baskets for some very special people!
At circle time we asked the children "Who do you want to make a Mishloach Manot Basket for? Who here at TBS do you appreciate?" The names went on and on Ellen, Daniel, Mom(Rebecca),Rabbi Jay, Rabbi Todd, Maria,Mary Ann, Tina... Tel Aviv made the cards and the Sunshine children decorated the bags. Then the Sunshine and Tel Aviv children worked with a partner and put together individual Mishloach Manot bags that the Tel Aviv children will hand deliver today and tomorrow.
What a wonderful, beautiful tradition!

Avery's Drama Story!
Avery came over to me after we ate lunch and said, "Lauri I want to write a Drama Story!" I said, "Great go over to the Art Center and help yourself to some paper."
Ten minutes later he came over to me and said, I am ready to tell my story!"
Alison wrote down Avery's words and told him ,"Lauri will type it up, and we can make the costumes during peace out time on Thursday and then act it out together with friends." Avery said, "I want to act it out today and I don't need to make costumes." So that is what we did...And wow it was some show! The Unicorn and Sunshine Lunch Bunchers came down to the All Star room to watch Avery and his friends act out, "The Green Line". The show was so good the children acted it out twice, and asked the Unicorn and Sunshine children if they wanted to take on a part in the play, Lilly was a "Yellow Line" and Alana decided to be a "Green Line".

Playing with Cars out on the Playground!
Tina stopped me in the hall and asked me if I would like a box of cars for the All Star classroom. I took the cars out at our Lunch Bunch meeting time, and discussed with the children how we might use the cars outside..."I was thinking it might be a good idea to take the cars out on the playground to play, How could we play with them?" Josh and Sam R said, "The slide, we can race them down the slide!" Everyone else thought that was a great idea!
So that is what they did...They raced them up and down the slide, put them on a "lever", and then released them from the top, and they even took pictures of their own car with the kids camera.

Our Lemonade Stand was a Big Hit!
The Lunch Bunch Lemonade Stand was a big hit! The Scientists, Sunshine/Unicorn, All Star groups all had their part! At our curriculum meeting yesterday the All Stars decided to make a lemonade stand. Today Tel Aviv and Haifa children made fresh lemonade from scratch. The Unicorn/Sunshine friends provided pennies for everyone so they could buy their own cup of lemonade. The money we collected will go directly to Tzadakah. The Scientists were kind enough to organize and run the lemonade stand. (They collected the money and poured the lemonade into cups.)
At peace out time Jesse and Daniel took pleasure in creating a colorful lemonade sign. While we were making the lemonade Aaron started chanting, "Lemonade for sale, fifty cents a cup...Does that sound familiar? Out on the playground we all started chanting, "Lemonade for sale fifty cents a cup!" Making a lemonade stand sure is a lot of fun!

Lunch Bunch Votes on Science or Art?
Today in Lunch Bunch I reminded the children back in the Fall we made a list of thing they would like to do in Lunch Bunch. The question of the day was...Do you want focus in on interesting, fun science experiments or art activities? So we took a vote! Science got 7 votes and art got 4 votes. We decided that as we focus in on science activities/experiments, we would also incorporate art and cooking! It doesn't get better then that! Oh yes, let's not forget that one of their favorite things to do at Lunch Bunch is to play games and get some exercise in Simon Hall(Mr Parachute,Mr Fox, Uncle Sam and free play with balloons and balls)! I reassured the children that we will have opportunities to play in Simon Hall too!
After we voted, we play cooperatively with magnitiles on the rug(at "peace out time") and then went into Simon Hall to play some games with our Sunshine friends!

The Big Show!
The All Star Lunch Bunchers invited their Unicorn and Sunshine friends into the classroom to watch them act-out the Three Billy Goats Gruff story. We hand delivered an invitation with the time and the date. They arrived fashionably late, and we welcomed them with open arms! Our friends sat and watched three showings! Each and every child who participated in the play did a super job remembering their lines! At the end of each show the children proudly took a bow.
