Respect all living things!

In honor of Tikkun Olam Day we have had many discussions about how we can take care of our world? The children came up with some great ideas! No matter how big or how small we need to respect all living creatures and things... Put the garbage in the trash where it belongs, plant lots of trees, fruits , vegetables and last but not least recycle at home and at school too!
Exploring with insects and reading a variety of books about living creaters in our world have really made us all aware of how we can take care of our world.!

Trees and Giving

The Levana children are exploring exciting themes. We have been learning about Israel through Tina's travels there, and enjoying the wonderful picture books that she has created for the classroom. Tu B'Shevat is approaching, and we celebrate trees, nature, the realization that it is springtime in Israel and almond trees are blossoming there. As we plant our seeds indoors, we also practice the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam. We help to repair the world by not wasting materials in our classroom, and by contributing to the planting of trees in Israel. Here, the children make the first deposits to the special box that will hold our donations.Posted by Picasa

flower bouquet gifts

Each morning the sunshine children have been doing water colors on coffee filters. They have been unique and colorful and exciting to watch as the colors soak together. We are making flower bouquets for our children to bring to their Thanksgiving meals to say thank you to their host. Aleeza and Sydni worked very hard to make flowers for each of the members of their family. We are excited to put them together this week!!
