Fresh vegetables

We read a new book about all kinds of vegetables that are planted at this time of year. The children could name almost all of the vegetables from asparagus to zucchini that are pictured in the book. To further our study we had fresh peas and rainbow carrots for snack. The peas were fun to open and eat directly from the pod. The carrots were orange, goldfish yellow and yellow. Here Sam C. and Abby are peeling the carrots in between eating the peas. The children said that all colors of the carrots taste the same.

  1. What a great extension of the picture book. Today I read an article suggesting that children who learn to cook before the age of 7 are 50% more likely to have healthy diets as adults. It starts in Haifa!
