Shabbat on Thursday!

Today we celebrated a wonderful Shabbat...on Thursday!  For the Levana children who don't celebrate with us on Fridays, we decided to have an extra Shabbat this week.  We did all of our favorite Shabbat things today...and even added some extra special stuff.

Every student braided their own challah!

We learned about the Shabbat rituals in the kitchen area of our classroom, and we practiced all the blessings.

Then, we joined the Keshet class to sing Shabbat songs, pass the Torah, do Shabbat rituals, and eat a delicious snack! 

Avi joined with Eva to be "Shabbat Helper".  They covered their eyes after lighting the candles to chant the blessing.

The Keshet class made a delicious kugel that they shared with us -- yummy!

And when snack was over, Mary Ann shared the story of Bubbe and Zayde and the bear they met in Brooklyn.  (Don't worry -- the bear was lost, and Bubbe helped him get back home to his storybook).

We had such a wonderful Shabbat today, thanks to the teachers and students in the Keshet class.  In fact, Shabbat was so great today, that we will excitedly celebrate Shabbat again tomorrow!
