Come on in to Adom Gimmel and get your hair styled! Yesterday, Josie and Lily opened a hair salon! They took turns styling each other's hair. First, they covered the client with a fabric to protect their clothes and then they pretended that a toy carrot was a hair styling tool. As Josie and Lily use their imaginations, they played out the real life experience of going to get your hair cut. Using fabric or a toy carrot to represent other materials shows how the children are engaging in symbolic play. During this type of play, the children are learning to negotiate, self-regulate, and solve problems.
