What do we learn from riding tricycles and bikes?

Feet flew, scooters zipped by, and there were smiles all around this morning as we began our rodeo. In all of this fun, you could see muscles working and brains thinking. Riding a bike involves critical skills:

Coordination: How do I get my hands, feet and body to work together? Riding a tricycle requires the ability to hang onto the handlebars, balance on the seat and pedal, all at the same time. It may look easy, but trike riding is a sophisticated skill.

Strength: Tricycling, especially during a lengthy bike rodeo, requires strength and stamina for pedaling.

Persistence: Children are learning to practice pedaling, even when it is difficult, without giving up on the first or second attempt.

And most of all, we enjoyed the clear sky, got our hearts pumping, and had a great time.
