What do Scientists do?

The children have been very interested in seeds.  Apple seeds were treasures that were quickly put into bags to be planted . Sukkot, which is a celebration of  the harvest is a wonderful opportunity to explore vegetables. At morning meeting, the children were shown a variety of vegetables and we wondered whether or not there were seeds inside the vegetables.  The children poked and  prodded to look for seeds in potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, green beans, and radishes. As scientists they drew their observations and carefully traced the vegetables and were asked what they had noticed. At the end of the morning the children were asked, "What is a scientist and a child responded"someone who looks inside of things".  Their observation were placed in their portfolio that  we will continue to use.
