Printed words and charts can be very interesting to children. What do the words mean? Icons that represent words provide an opportunity for children to develop a picture/text connection. Writing is also a way to communicate. During our visit with Rabbi Todd in the sukkah, the children mentioned that we were building sukkahs out of natural materials and wanted Rabbi Todd to visit when they were done. We wrote a letter and all of the members of the class made a mark, a dot, etc to indicate that they "signed" the letter. Next, we'll deliver the letter to Rabbi Todd!
