What a pleasure it was to join Sam, Joshua, Nathaniel, Jesse, and Oliver to help create a pile of newspaper strips for their volcano project. It was fascinating to watch the different techniques they used to get the paper into small pieces. Sam chose sections of newspaper with large photos or tables with rows and cut carefully along the lines, focusing on each move of his scissors. Joshua noticed the satisfying sound of the ripping paper as he tore it into strips. Oliver focused on making tiny pieces of paper. I loved seeing how each child interprets the same assignment in a different way.
