Flexible shifting

One of the great things about imaginative play is that it can shift and change in an instant. Being able to shift flexibly in play is an important skill that develops and strengthens with time.

Eli and Adam were building a parking garage for the cars.  When some of the "walls" began to cave in, they immediately shifted into bulldozers who were clearing out a construction site.  Travis joined in and Maya and Avi moved in and out of the activity.
