A new month means it's time to change the calendar!
On Tuesday, we noticed a problem. Our calendar represented the month of September, but it was now the month of October! The kohavim children took on the challenge of changing the calendar. The teachers explained that the first day of the month was Monday and the children proceeded to work together to put the numerals in order. Jacob then realized we needed to add the name of the month to the top of the calendar. He wrote, "October" and taped it on. We then thought about what special events we should add messages for to the calendar. The children exclaimed that we needed to add birthdays! We referred to our list of birthdays and noticed that Ezra and Rachel both have birthdays in October. Max Greenstein chose to write Ezra and Rachel's names and draw birthday candles. The children enjoyed taking on the mathematical challenge of ordering the numerals, thoughtfully wrote messages, and interacted with the calendar in a meaningful and relevant way.
