Earth Day Sponge Painting
By this time in the school year the children have painted using a variety of means including watercolor brushes, long-handled and short-handled brushes and their hands. Monday was Earth Day and we wanted to paint a large earth shaped circle using a new technique. With a little coaching and demonstration, the children were able to dip the sponge into the paint and “tap, tap, tap” the sponges to create some spectacular looking aerial views of the planet. With her reaction to this new method of painting, Lindsey cheerfully exclaimed, “this is cool!”
