I Can Make A Match!

This week we made brand new clean up necklaces but before that we realized that we could use the cards as a Tel Aviv Matching/Memory game!! We laid out the cards and we had six different pairs of different locations in the room. it was fun to match  and play a game with the special places we have in the class. Memory is a great skill for developing spacial awareness and it engages young children to pay attention to every child's turn in the hope that maybe they will give you infomation that will enable you to get a match. Everyone was deep in concentration and it was great to see how excited they got when they got a pair! It was so much fun that we are hoping to make another set of memory cards in the upcoming week!

Hide and Seek!

Olive said, "Do you want to play Hide and Seek?" I said, "Yes, I really like that game!"

Hannah, Lily, Molly, Zachary, Eliza and Noah shouted "I want to play too!" Fun was had by all!

Quiet moments

The Rainbows had a very busy and active morning.  After snack, some of the kids gathered on the rug for a game.  We sang the "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear" rhyme together and acted it out.  Once the teddy bears were tucked up in bed and they finished with: "turn out the light!",  the tired bears quietly rested for a moment.  Each child patiently waited for a quick back rub before we started again.   Maybe one of the Rainbow children will teach this game to you...

Matzah Play Dough?

I am sure you have heard of pizza matzah, matzah with cream cheese, jelly matzah and chocolate covered matzah... But what about play dough matzah? Well see for yourself the Haifa and Tel Aviv children made play dough matzah today!

We also built interesting structures with the big wooden blocks and magnitiles. Oh yes,and some of us enjoyed a long friendly game of "Torah slides and ladders". What a day!!!!

Game Day!

Lunch Bunch was spent playing board games, and working on our pyramid displayed in our classroom library. Check it out when you get a chance. At the end of the day we enjoyed a healthy juice pop and then we went outside to play! Thanks for a great day!

A Friendly Passover Game.

Micah and Elias are having fun together playing the Passover Game. Both are taking turns using the spinner and choosing the card with the matching holiday symbol. They are most assuredly sharing the Jewish value of Sayver Panim Yafot of cheerfulness and warmhearted friendship in the company of others.

Giggles and Laughs!

Today in Lunch Bunch the children had the opportunity to do a little bit of everything! We built pyramids and other interesting structures with the little wooden blocks on mirrors, played card games, and had an apple party with Sasha and the Unicorns. We had a lot of laughs and a bad case of the giggles! In other words...FUN, FUN and more fun! Hooray for Lunch Bunch!

Apples to Apples Fun!

Earlier this week Rachel saw that I had an Apples to Apples game and wanted to play! We took the game out and set it up. Hannah, Molly and Dylan were eager to play. We played with open hands and I read all the cards to each player. It was great to see how each child was able to associate their cards with the "green adjective card" For delicious Molly played "cucumbers" which is one of her favorite vegetables but Hannah's card, "glazed doughnuts" was the most appealing to Dylan. Each child loved being the "judge" and getting to pick which card fit the best. The game also enables each child to think about which card the "judge" would like best not just their own preferences. I could see their minds ticking as they picked each card it was fun for me to share my game with them!

Sight word Bingo

Many of the Kohavim children enjoyed playing this version of Bingo which required them to recognize the most commonly used words in the English language. Some of the words they definitely recognized and others they clearly sounded out. It was great to see children helping each other. There were also several children who were not playing the game but who decided on their own to make a sentence with each word that was selected. Still others were thinking of words that rhymed with the chosen words. These variations on the game were entirely created by the children themselves. We were happy to see so many children having fun while learning. They were clearly ready for this next step in their pre-reading skills.
