Pre-Passover lesson

Last Friday we had great experiences all around Passover. from baking matza to drawing the Seder food on a long paper table cloth.
We started by reading the book "Izzy the Whiz and Passover McClean" by
Yael Mermelstein and Carrie Hartman (Jan 2012). Then the children draw pictures of their favorite characters from the book!
We then continued to the kitchen to make home made matza where the children enjoyed exploring the sticky mixture of the dough. Right next to the matza making table we made a science experiment with yeast, sugar and warm water and we saw how much the yeast expended. This gave us the basic to explain and discus why we don't put yeast in matza and the lack of time the Israelites had when they escaped Egypt.
We then continued back to the room where we made a long table cloth from papers and the children drew all different foods we can find on the Seder table. It was a great Friday lunch bunch. I enjoyed the great time with your sweet children.
Chag sameach!
