The Tel Aviv All Stars Monthly Tree Observations!

By observing a tree regularly for a full year, children have the opportunity to focus very closely on a single plant, its characteristics, how it changes over time, which animals use it as part of their habitat, and much more. And if the tree flowers, grows fruit, goes to seed, or loses its leaves only to grow new ones, all the better! Children will have many changes to notice, record, and discuss, and they can connect these observations to their ongoing study of plants and animals.
Today we identified a maple tree we can see clearly from the window in the classroom, as the tree we will observe over the course of the school year. Some of the children began a class book that will include monthly photographs and children's drawings of the tree, written records of the children's questions, their observations, and any information they find out about the tree by measuring it, counting its parts, and reading about it.
Stay tuned for our monthly Tree Observation Report!
