Wood, holes, and Branches???

Wood pieces with holes in the middle. How did that happen? We set out brances, with various widths, and the children started to build. There was one problem, since all the branches did not have the same widths, they didn't all fit. What could they do. Unicorn friends had to work very hard to figure it out.
